Behind the Book
The book’s set in Muswell Hill Memorial Hospital, in the Emergency Department. Beatrice has a tragic past and wants to make a fresh start – without the complications of a romantic relationship. Daniel keep his heart guarded to protect his four-year-old son Alex as well as himself. But as they work together they gradually fall for each other, and Alex adores Beatrice, too. Although they try to keep their distance, a case in the Emergency Department brings Beatrice’s past home to her; and when Alex comforts her, the result shocks them both and makes them face the issues from their past.
The proposal scene here is one of my favourites. (I want to say more, but – spoilers!)
You’ll enjoy this if you like books with accidental babies, single dads, very cute small children, Notting Hill, country houses and astronomy.
